1. No it does not show a Newton third law force pair because of the fact that I'm the one that exerts the force on the bench, not the earth so for it to be correct it would have to be the force of me on the bench and the force of the bench on me in the opposite direction.
2. Yes it is a Newton third law force pair because the pen exerts a force on the desk while the desk exerts a force on the pen in the opposite direction and therefore the pen does not move. The forces balance and that is the third law.
3. No it is not a Newton third law force pair because I exert a force on the rope but in the opposite direction the rope would exert a force on me. Thats not what the other force is, it is the force that the rope puts on the wagon. The third law only involves 2 objects interacting so the fact that the 3rd object is in the picture it does not show a newton third law force pair.
4. Yes the book sliding represents the third law because the force that is put on the table is directly the same as the force that the table puts on the book that slows it down. Friction shows how the force that an object puts on another object that slows it down is equal to the force that slows it down.

Jounal Entry 1/24
There is a debate on whether or not Pluto is a planet because of the fact that its so small, smaller than our moon. It is also much further away from the sun than any other "planet."
Pluto is similar to the inner planets because of the fact that its round and has its own gravitational pull and orbits the earth. It's different because it's so much smaller than any other planet. Many debate if we should call our moon a planet because it's bigger than pluto. Its also completely covered with ice resulting from being so far from the son.
The region in space where pluto and other large objects lie is called the Kuiper belt.
I think that its a minor planet because it is round and has its own gravitational pull and it does orbit the son. I think its still a planet but shouldn't be counted in the major planets because its so useless and far away. I don't think the controversy will ever end.

Journal entry 1/11
A force is any force that is on an object. A net force refers to the final force on the object. Some forces balance out and leave it with a net force of zero.
The direction of the net force is the same as the direction of the acceleration.
The net force doesnt have to be in the same direction of the objects motion.

Journal Entry 1/4
a- No you do not have to consider the plane's size into account because the length has nothing to do with the speed and when the plane will reach a certain point, which is what the question asks.
b- Yes you do need to know the size of the plane because the answer depends on the size of the plane unlike the previous question. You would need to know the size to know how far to put the gates.
c- No you do not need to know the size of the plane because the person was sitting in one place and it tells how much the plane moved altogether so you do not need to know the size of the plane.
d- You do not need to know the size of the airplane to answer the question but you do need to know how much the plane turned and how much the plane moved altogether.
