Journal 2/15

When we analyze things that move in a circular motion we see that there is a net force that is in the direction of the center of the circle. In order for the bowling ball to move in a circular motion the mallet has to be aimed towards the center of the circle. The bucket swinging has circular motion because the unbalanced net force is the string pulling on it and guess what, it leads to the center of the circle. The air puck is the same idea as the bucket because the string which exerts the net force, is attached to the center of the circle.

For a ball rolled along a track, it applies as well because at each little point on the track, it pushes it towards the center of the circle and so does the next point. If the wall was removed from the track it would move at a tangent to the circle.
